Opening Day Ceremony April 23, 2010
Opening Days are always special occasions. Harrison Little League’s 59th Opening Day Ceremony was truly a spectacular event. The annual parade formed at the base of Veteran Park and proceeded on to the Harrison Avenue School baseball field. Leading the army of Little Leaguers, coaches, parents and siblings were the Harrison High School Marching Band, Majorettes and Color Guard. An estimated crowd of 2500 residents packed the outfield grass and beyond the ball field. In attendance were Harrison Mayor Joan Walsh; Harrison’s Town Council members, Marlane Amelio, Joe Cannella, Fred Sciliano and Pat Vetere. US Congressman, the Honorable Nita M. Lowey (NY District 18) addressed the large crowd. Robert Castelli (NY State Assembly, 89th District) presented Little League President Rich Salerno with a Proclamation from the NY State Assembly, praising the work of Harrison Little League. Highlighting the ceremony was the introduction of our Volunteer of the Year (JoAnn Lucas Award) Christine Rinaldi and our District 20 Championship team.
